Subject: Support Our Request to Postpone the RHCPS AGM
Dear Community Members and Stakeholders,
We urgently seek your support in postponing the upcoming Reservoir Hills Community Police Sub-Forum (RHCPS) AGM, scheduled for 28 March 2025. This postponement is necessary to ensure the formal adoption of the newly drafted RHCPS Constitution and to establish a neutral Steering Committee that will oversee a fair, transparent, and legally compliant election process.
Why is Postponing the AGM Necessary?
✅ Adoption of a New Constitution: The newly proposed RHCPS Constitution has been developed in alignment with the SAPS Interim Regulations (2001) and the South African Police Service Act, 68 of 1995. This constitution sets clear governance structures and transparent election procedures that will benefit the entire community.
✅ Ensuring Transparency: A postponement will allow for wider community engagement so that all stakeholders fully understand and support the new framework before any elections are held.
✅ Neutral Oversight: A Steering Committee will be established to oversee membership onboarding, finalization of governance structures, and preparations for elections, ensuring a fair and inclusive process.
✅ Respect for Religious Observances: The AGM date falls within Ramadan, making it impossible for many Muslim community members to participate. This undermines inclusivity and fairness in the election process.
