Stop US involvement in Venezuela 2019
Please join me in petitioning the United States governement to cease it´s involvement in the current state of affairs in Venezuela. There is no justification for the United States to be involved in the affairs of any other nation than our own. This is clearly set forth to deceive the American public into buying into the idea that we need to invade and or remove the Venezuelan leader for reasons I personally can only speculate.
House Bill H.R. 4587 was passed in 2014
This bill would impose targeted sanctions on individuals responsible for carrying out or ordering human rights abuses against the citizens of Venezuela, and for other purposes.
The sanctions would include rescinding visas, imposing trade embargoes, and freezing both individual and corporate bank accounts for those involved with human rights abuses. The “for other purposes” part would seem to refer to a list of items in Section 7 of the bill. These deal with increasing Venezuelans’ access to technology and media, especially for human rights activists. Since February, more than 40 people have died in protests in Venezuela, in addition to hundreds being injured and thousands being arrested.
UN draft resolutions on Venezuela (US and Russsia) - Pending 2019
The US draft resolution calls for international aid deliveries and presidential elections in Venezuela while stressing "deep concern with the violence and excessive use of force by Venezuelan security forces against unarmed, peaceful protesters".
The US expresses "full support for the National Assembly as the only democratically elected institution in Venezuela",
In response, Moscow came up with an alternative resolution, expressing its concern for Venezuela's territorial integrity and political independence.
The Russian draft criticises any "attempts to intervene in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of Venezuela".
Humanitarian impasse
Humanitarian aid sent by the US recently arrived in the Colombian city of Cucuta on the border with Venezuela.
"Venezuela won't allow the spectacle of fake humanitarian aid because we're no one's beggars," said Maduro.
"Venezuela is not suffering the humanitarian crisis fabricated by Washington over the last four years to justify intervening in our country."
He blamed the shortage of food and medicine on US sanctions, which mostly target regime individuals as well as state oil company PDVSA.
"Liberate the money that has been blocked and sequestered," said Maduro. "This is a macabre game. We squeeze them by the neck and make them ask for crumbs."
