I'm signing because we are not protected by the law enforcement personel, Sauth African Police Service doesn't do enough to protect certizens, they don't have equipment, they are not enough on ground. Private Security it's times 4 or 5 interms of registayed officers. Without private sector our system is doomed, daily criminal cases with unlicensed firearms, armed robberies, murder cases saps don't even finalised their cases we don't know what's happening with the previous cases.Regards

I'm signing because the South African Police Service is highly inefficient and outnumbered. With 1 police officer per 1000 people to serve(a conservative guess the real number looks worse) security companies are essential in the country. Private security companies transport cash from companies to banks and vice versa. Take away their ability to defend themselves and cash in transit robberies will be even worse. Security companies help secure neighborhoods and communities by patrolling areas and assisting SAPS in often capturing criminals red handed. Criminals need a clear playing field to operate and then kick bribes up to Gov. Police are now on a tight Gov leash, but Private Security are not. Dismantling their organisations will eventually render them moot. Then criminals are free to play again and give Gov the bribes they love somuch. I am in the security industry and I understand the importance of being armed and being able to uphold a civilian citizen's right to safety and security as part of their basic rights.The removal of firearms in the private sector will render us incapable of defending ourselves, let alone the citizens we are employed to protect against crimes that are committed by assailants using firearms.
The effective regulations regarding firearm possession in South Africa is more important than just unarming those who are competent and legally carrying firearms.

I am signing this because I cannot stand by while the government destroys the basic right of protection, safety and security of the civillians. While the South African Police Service is not able to be everywhere and protect every one, due to very high volumes of crime.
